Faridabad has been one of the most nature-rich yet underexplored regions in my journey as a sports and wildlife photographer in India. My experience in this area has largely been centered around Mangarbani, a biodiverse forest belt on the outskirts of the Delhi NCR region, which has offered some of my most memorable wildlife photography encounters so far.
Unlike structured stadium environments or corporate venues, Faridabad’s photography landscape is raw, natural, and deeply immersive—requiring patience, observation, and a strong understanding of wildlife behavior.
Mangerbani has been a significant location in my wildlife photography journey, especially for bird photography. One of the most remarkable experiences here was witnessing a full colony of Baya Weavers, where an entire tree was covered with intricately built hanging nests.
Seeing Baya Weavers in their natural nesting habitat was not only visually stunning but also one of my earliest and most rewarding bird photography experiences. I was able to capture powerful moments of these birds entering and exiting their nests, which required patience, long-lens tracking, and careful composition.
Another fascinating observation in Mangerbani was the presence of birds such as wire-tailed swallows, which build their nests using mud. I was able to document their natural nesting behavior, including how they repeatedly collected mud from nearby puddles and transported it back to their nesting sites. These behavioral moments added a strong storytelling element to my wildlife photography work.
The region is also home to owls and other nocturnal or semi-nocturnal species, which offered opportunities for low-light and silhouette photography. Capturing these subjects helped me experiment with creative compositions, especially during early morning and late evening light conditions.

Mangerbani and surrounding forest patches in Faridabad played an important role in improving my wildlife photography skills. The key learnings include:
Patience-based tracking of bird movement
Understanding nesting behavior and habitat patterns
Working with natural light in dense forest environments
Silhouette photography during low-light conditions
Composing shots in unpredictable wildlife scenarios
One of the most important lessons from photographing in Faridabad is the importance of safety and preparation. These forested regions are relatively isolated and should ideally not be visited alone. Guided birding tours or group visits are strongly recommended for both safety and better wildlife identification.

While my sports photography exposure in Faridabad is still evolving, I have explored MMA tournaments in the region. Although I have not yet fully converted these opportunities into consistent assignments, they have provided valuable insight into combat sports photography.
MMA photography is extremely fast-paced and demands:
Quick reflex timing
Anticipation of strikes and grappling movements
High shutter speed control
Strong positioning around the cage or ring
Emotional capture of both victory and exhaustion
These early experiences have helped me understand the technical and physical demands of combat sports photography, and I look forward to building more consistent opportunities in this segment.
Faridabad sits at an interesting intersection of natural ecosystems and emerging urban development. For photographers, it offers two very different but complementary opportunities:
Forested zones like Mangerbani
Rich bird biodiversity including nesting colonies
Opportunities for behavioral wildlife documentation
Natural light and habitat-based storytelling
Combat sports (MMA, wrestling, boxing events)
Local sporting events and grassroots competitions
Emerging fitness and sports communities
While the region is still relatively underutilized compared to Delhi or Gurgaon, it holds strong long-term potential for both wildlife and sports photography.
My experience in Faridabad has been deeply rooted in nature and early-stage sports exploration. Mangerbani, in particular, has been one of the most visually rewarding wildlife locations I have worked in, offering rare opportunities to observe bird behavior in its purest form.
At the same time, the limited but promising exposure to sports photography—especially MMA—highlights the untapped potential of Faridabad as a growing photography destination within the Delhi NCR region.
As I continue expanding my work, Faridabad remains an important space for both wildlife storytelling and future sports photography opportunities.
